Vulcan Rotary prioritises help for less advantaged school children in Sheffield. The first example, in December 2021, was our facilitation of the visit of a cohort of primary aged children to the Christmas pantomime at Sheffield Theatres.

A second example took place in March 2022, when we supported recycling children’s books for a Sheffield primary school. Rotarians, many of whom are grandparents, were able to provide many suitable books.

A third example is our, May 2022 involvement in giving mock interviews to two cohorts of secondary students in a Sheffield secondary context. These Y10 and Y9 young people have missed so much interaction during the Covid years.

Sheffield Vulcan Rotary has paid the costs for four young people, two from Sheffield Sea Cadets and two from Castle College, to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award weekend at Castleton Rotary Centre. All four young people gained RYLA certification and displayed leadership and team-working qualities.

Similarly, we supported two more Sea Cadets participating in a parallel weekend experience at Buxton’s Rotary Centre in May 2022.
